Governor of Tamil Nadu Mr. Banwarhilal Purohit launches HCAS Silver jubilee function

It started with Thamiz Thai Vazhthu first.

The Governor of Tamil Nadu Mr. Banwarhilal Purohit inaugurated Silver Jubilee function of HCAS today among HCAS board of Directors including Chairperson of Hindustan Group Dr. Mrs Elizabeth Verghese Principal Dr. S. Thirumagan, Directors Mr. Ashok Verghese , Dr. Aby Sam and Dr. Susan Marthandan and Deputy Director of Academics Dr. VJ Philip press teaching and non teaching faculties, students and others.

Dr. S. Thirumagan Principal HCAS welcomed the Governor Mr. Banwarhilal Purohit and said he considered it as his privilege to welcome his excellency to HCAS function. He welcomed Dr. Elizabeth Verghese Hindustan Group of Institutions chairperson Dr. Aby Sam the Director. HCAS was started in 1995 and it is completing 25 years and has 3884 students while delivering Silver jubilee report Dr. Thirumagan said. It has 16 UG courses 7 PG 2 MPhil and Phd programs It has 100 qualified staff 33% with Phds and the college has 87 class rooms and 3 blocks. And it is NAAC B++ accredited. The students have been securing university ranks and has MOU with 10 organizations and a Thailand university. The college has out reach program and it is building a block in Government high school in Kelambakkam a class room. Hindustan Community college is a part of HGI and HCAS offers diploma courses to poor and under privileged and it has completed 10 years Dr, Thirumagan said and welcomed all.

HCAS souvenir was released by governor and he opened Plaque of Silver jubilee of the college of HCAS

Director HCAS Dr. Susan Marthandan in her felicitation address said it is a glorious time as Tamil Nadu governor has come and traced history of HCAS said of college completing 25 years granting MPhil and PhD degrees and college has the Principal as syndicate member in university and said of International Film festival it had in June where actor Suhasini Director Bharathi Raja and others were present and said of business studies international conference and mega alumni meet Rehash19 it conducted and said of UGC grade 2F and NAAC B++ and credited to able chair person Dr. Elizabeth Verghese. She quoted motto of her father and Founder Chairman Dr. KCG Verghese who said to make every man a success and no man a failure to highlight HCAS mission and thanked all as she ended

Chairperson Dr. Elizabeth Verghese spoke next and welcomed the Governor Mr. Banwarilal Purohit and said it is a good time and government has taken interest in socio-economic field and in education particularly and encourages private players in Tamil Nadu She said of HIET completing five and half decades of existence and golden jubilee and this group has other good colleges and praised her daughter Dr. Susan Marthandan for HCAS running successfully saying Dr. Susan is a leading eye doctor besides looking after HCAS and a office bearer in Indo Australian Association. The alumni are holding leading positions in education industry and every where said of HCC the community college and said of goals of Founder chairman Dr. KCG Verghese and HGI is on its mission continually and thanked everyone as she ended.

The two senior staff of HCAS Dr. S Ilanjiam, Dean - School of sciences and Dr. K Malarvizhi, Dean School of Business studied received outstanding teachers from Governor and Dr. Susan Marthandan. received award for excellent work of HCC.

The Governor Mr. Banwarilal Purohit delivered Chief Guest Silver jubilee address as he started saying Vanakam to all in Tamil and said he is happy to be here. He quoted former President of India Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam who said education is a requirement for making a person useful to society. He said state and central government will help in imparting education and said of internet Technology and digital media coming today. It is 99% hard work and 1% perspiration. He said this is age of Artificial Intelligence and machine learning as technology has advanced. He said of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam became president and he occupied Rashtrapati Bhavan with two suitcases one containing books and he left Rashtrapathi Bhavan with two and one with books. He had pleasure in knowing him and working with him Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam lead simple life and said need of reading books as books give lot of knowledge Books make catalyst a person and said of Mahatma Gandhi the father of nation who said seven sins being politics without principles pleasure without consent wealth without work commerce without morals science without spirit

He said India is a leading nation and we have achieved in sending space ship to Mars and said of Chancellor Meet of Tamilnadu and universities and colleges in this state

He addressed to students in keeping good friends and need of friends with good qualities and said more on getting good friends with good qualities

To make India great we need education and quoted Mahatma Gandhi again on this. And quoted Swami Vivekananda on education. He advised every one to worship and be religious and follow god of ones faith and thanked as he ended

Mr. Samuel Sampath Kumar delivered vote of thanks Thanking governor for spending precious time and thanked board of directors of HGI press media and others for making it successful

Prize distribution and cultural programs followed after Governor left Dr. Sandhya HOD English received award for best UG department and Dr, Sakthi Prabha HOD social work and Dean School of Humanities received award for Best PG department

The function came to conclusion with singing of national anthem
